The owls' wings are large and wide. Therefore, the amount of load on their wings is low. This feature, which allows them to fly with less wings at low speeds, is one of the reasons why owls fly silently.

The main reason why owls can fly much quieter than other birds is related to the three features of the feathers on their wings. The feathers on the front of the wing are lined up just like the teeth of a comb, the feathers on the back of the wing are flexible, soft and spaced, and velvety soft feathers on the top of the wings.

The texture of the dense feathers on the upper part of the owls' wings is soft. The ends of these hairs, which extend straight from the exit points, are curved. Experimental research shows that pressure fluctuations on the surface of the wings decrease during flight thanks to this structure. This can be compared to the fact that trees in forests protect vegetation on the ground from the influence of the wind.
