Indian porcupine are members of the rodentias and differ from known hedgehogs. They feed on herbivores and are larger. They do not cause any damage to the agricultural areas and live alone. Their backs, shoulders and back of their necks are covered with quills  that look like a pointed arrow. They use them for their defense against hunters and never throw them. The scientific name of it is Hystrix indica.
