- Can be kept under hot water
- Can be opened with a knife
- If there is a sticky (molasses etc.) substance inside, it can be removed by turning the jar upside down and sticking the lid to wet the adhesive.
- Lid part can be heated

Try to open the lid by wearing a rubber dish glove or holding it with a stretch film. So you can grip the cover easily without slipping, usually the cover opens.

In more stubborn cases, hit the edges of the lid with a wooden spoon or flip the jar over and hit the lid on the kitchen counter, then try to open the jammed lid.

Put some hot water in a bowl, turn the jar over and soak the lid in water for 30 seconds. The cover will open easily, as the metal will expand faster than glass. Try to open it by holding it with a towel as the cover will be hot.

As a last resort, save the jar lid from the gears it passes with the help of a knife, fork or old type opener. So you can get the air trapped and open the lid easily.
