It is a disorder that is diagnosed by reading, mathematics and written expression significantly lower than expected according to the standard tests, in terms of age, intelligence level and education received by individuals with normal or above normal intelligence. It includes subgroups of mathematics disorder and learning disorder not otherwise named. Studies on the brain show that in normal individuals the right brain hemisphere is smaller than the left brain hemisphere, while in dyslexia it is considered to be the same size or smaller than the left brain hemisphere. Differences in the left brain hemisphere are considered to be the cause of this disorder. There is functional dysfunction in the left brain temporo-parieto-occipital regions, and increased activation in the frontal regions of dyslexic children and adults. A normal person uses the left anterior lobe of his/her brain for actions such as reading, writing, and understanding. People with dyslexia have difficulty using the left anterior lobe of the brain. It is the most common neurobehavioral disorder. Their main problem concerns memory and language.
