What is Kawasaki disease? What are the symptoms? Is there any treatment?
1 Answer
It was known that coronavirus affects children little and not at risk. An unusual increase in a disease called Kawasaki was observed, especially after the epidemic in England and Italy. They reported a significant increase in the number of pediatric patients, especially in children under 9 years of age, resulting in reddening of the hands, tongue, and eyes, and in some cases, which can lead to dilation of the heart vessels. This disease is also seen normally, but the number of cases in the past month is said to be 6 times that of a year. Whether the condition is linked to Covid-19 is being investigated.
Symptoms at the first stage;
- High fever (over 39 degrees) that lasts longer than three days and does not respond much to drug therapy,
- Rash that appears in the eyes without discharge,
- Rash on the skin that spreads from the chest to the leg, groin and genital area,
- Swelling and rash on the hands and feet,
- Lymph nodes enlarged especially in the neck,
- Irritated throat, mouth and lips,
- Swollen and bright red tongue (like a strawberry)
