Multiple personality disorder is called "Dissociative Identity Disorder" in today's diagnostic books. It may descend through the family, but the issue of genetic heredity is still unresolved. Although it is not common, the time to start this very interesting disorder is usually childhood. Most of the patients are women and many are sexually abused. If a person experiences an abusive and traumatic event in his life, this disorder may occur. The patient has at least two alternate personalities, and one has his own mood, perception, memories, thought and behavior control.
